The Story of Implen
Leader in UV/Vis Spectroscopy Instruments
Every company has a beginning.
Ours started with a simple question.
How can researchers obtain reliable spectrophotometric data when only a few microliters of sample are available?
In the early 2000s, scientists working in molecular biology and genetics were generating increasingly valuable samples while simultaneously trying to use less material. Traditional spectrophotometers were not designed for this new reality.
At Implen, we saw an opportunity to rethink how microvolume spectroscopy could work.
What began in Munich, Germany in 2003 as a small company focused on advanced laboratory solutions quickly evolved into something much larger: a mission to improve UV-Vis spectroscopy for researchers around the world.
The journey started with a tiny droplet.
The rest is history.

More Than Twenty Years Later
Today, Implen instruments support researchers in biological, pharmaceutical, clinical, and industrial laboratories around the world.
More than scientific publications reference NanoPhotometer® systems, and new discoveries continue to be made every day using technologies that began with a simple goal: helping researchers obtain better data from very small samples.
The instruments have evolved.
The technology has advanced.
But the philosophy remains unchanged.
A tiny droplet. A beam of light. And a commitment to measurements researchers can trust.
